Close-up magic during a cocktail hour is a different beast than a 60-minute stage show for 500 people. Strolling magic, where the performer works the room group by group, typically runs $1,500 to $4,000 for one to two hours. A full stage or parlor show with a production element, $3,000 to $7,500. Combine both, strolling into a show, and you’re looking at $4,000 to $10,000+.
2. Who you’re hiring
A magician who performs 10 times a year at birthday parties and a magician who performs 100+ times a year for Fortune 500 companies are not the same person. The second one carries insurance, brings backup equipment, shows up an hour early, and has performed in rooms where one bad joke costs you a client relationship. 3. When and where

Here’s what most people miss: you’re not paying for tricks.
A $500 magician does tricks. A $3,000+ magician creates an experience that makes your CFO forget about quarterly projections for 45 minutes. At the professional tier, expect a pre-event consultation, custom material built around your company and your guests, liability insurance and a real contract, and a performer who reads the room and adjusts in real time.
You’re also paying for what happens after the event. When your guests are still talking about that one moment three days later, in a client follow-up meeting or in the company Slack, that is not something a $500 performer produces. The memory that outlasts the evening has real value. It just doesn’t show up on the invoice.
The Cheap Trap
A $300 magician at a 200-person corporate event isn’t a bargain. It’s a liability. When the performance falls flat in front of clients or your C-suite, nobody remembers the savings. They remember the awkward silence.
Two hard rules: any legitimate professional provides a contract and a liability insurance certificate, and most corporate venues require the insurance anyway. If a performer can’t produce either, walk away.
