The Mentalist Westchester
Companies Trust Most

Westchester County has no shortage of event venues. Country clubs in Purchase. Conference centers in White Plains. Historic estates in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. The venues are world-class. The question is: who do you hire to match that standard?

Daniel Nicholas is a mentalist. Not a party magician. Not a guy with a rabbit. He reads minds, makes predictions that turn out to be exactly right, and does things in front of your guests that they genuinely cannot explain. He has been doing this full time since 2017, and he has performed at over a thousand events. A lot of those events have been right here in Westchester.

Corporate clients in White Plains book him for annual meetings and awards dinners. Event planners in Tarrytown bring him in for galas at the Castle Hotel and other historic venues. Private clients in Scarsdale, Bronxville, and Rye hire him for milestone celebrations and holiday parties. He knows Westchester because he works Westchester, regularly.

What sets Daniel apart from other Westchester entertainers is his approach. He tailors every performance to the specific event. A cocktail reception at a Purchase country club gets strolling mentalism during the social hour. A corporate dinner in White Plains gets a full stage show. Most clients want both. Daniel will talk through the options with you and recommend what makes sense for your room, your audience, and your schedule.

His background is unusual for a performer. He spent years working in systems engineering before leaving that career to do this full time. The analytical mindset carries over. He is detail-oriented, professional, shows up early, and never needs hand-holding. Event planners love working with him because he makes their job easier, not harder.

“Daniel performed at our company dinner in White Plains and it was the single best entertainment decision we have made in ten years. Our CEO could not stop talking about it.”

Venues Across
Westchester County

Daniel has performed throughout Westchester, including The Opus Westchester, Tappan Hill Mansion, Whitby Castle, Winged Foot Golf Club, Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Westchester Country Club, Glen Island Harbour Club, Trump National Westchester, Quaker Ridge, Old Oaks, Brae Burn, Fenway Golf Club, Knollwood, Wykagyl, Greentree, Crabtree’s Kittle House, The Ritz-Carlton Westchester, and the Westchester Marriott.

Westchester runs on two kinds of event: the corporate evening at a hotel or conference space, and the club celebration where half the room already knows the other half. They need different handling. A corporate room wants a clear moment where everyone watches together. A club room is better served by close-up work that moves.

Daniel will tell you which one your space actually supports, including when a full stand-up show is the wrong call for the room you have booked.

Corporate Evenings And
Club Celebrations

Westchester’s event calendar runs on two engines. The first is corporate: company celebrations, client appreciation evenings, holiday parties and leadership dinners at places like The Opus Westchester, the Westchester Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton in White Plains. Daniel’s Westchester bookings have included banking, healthcare and professional services firms, several of which have brought him back.

The second is the club and mansion calendar. Milestone birthdays, anniversary parties, bar and bat mitzvahs and charity galas at Tappan Hill, Whitby Castle, Winged Foot, Sleepy Hollow, Westchester Country Club and Glen Island. These rooms tend to be larger than Greenwich and more formal than the Hamptons.

December is the heaviest month here, and it books early. Companies within reach of the Manhattan commute plan holiday entertainment months ahead, and the good dates in the first half of December tend to be gone by early autumn.

Close Enough To The City
To Expect City Standards

Westchester audiences see Manhattan entertainment regularly and judge by that standard, but the rooms themselves are often more intimate than a city ballroom. That combination catches people out. A performer who is used to a large stage can feel oversized in a club dining room, and a performer who only does close-up can disappear in a 200-seat gala.

Daniel works both ends. Strolling close-up during a cocktail hour when guests are moving and talking, and a stand-up mentalism set when the room is seated with a clear focal point. The judgement about which one your event can actually support is the part that matters, and he will give you a straight answer rather than the bigger booking.

“I hired Daniel for a holiday party at work and he was the most talented, professional magician ever. Everyone at the party had a wonderful time because of him and I cannot recommend him enough.”

What Planners
Usually Ask

When do Westchester holiday parties need to be booked?

Earlier than most people expect. December is the busiest month in the county and companies within the Manhattan commute tend to plan months ahead, so the better dates in the first half of December are often gone by early autumn. If you have a December date in mind, check it as soon as you have it.

Do you work corporate events and private parties?

Both. Westchester runs on two calendars: corporate evenings at venues like The Opus Westchester, the Westchester Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton in White Plains, and club or mansion celebrations at Tappan Hill, Whitby Castle, Winged Foot, Sleepy Hollow and Glen Island. The format changes between them, and Daniel will recommend which suits your room.

Do you need a stage, a microphone or any setup?

Not for close-up and strolling. That format needs nothing at all: no stage, no sound system, no lighting change and no adjustment to your run of show. Daniel moves through the room while guests are standing and talking. The stand-up mentalism show does need two things, a moment where the room genuinely gathers and a clear focal point for people to face. If your event has neither, close-up on its own is the better booking and Daniel will say so.

How many guests does this work for?

Close-up and strolling works from around ten guests to several hundred, because Daniel performs to small clusters at a time rather than the whole room at once. Roughly one hour covers about forty to fifty guests properly. The stand-up mentalism show suits a seated audience of around twenty upward, and has been performed for rooms of several hundred.

What is the difference between the close-up work and the show?

The close-up work is sleight of hand and mind reading performed at arm’s length, in guests’ own hands, in small groups. The show is a mentalism-driven set where the whole room watches together, built around thoughts, choices and information nobody has said out loud. Many events book both: close-up during the cocktail hour, then the show once everyone is seated.
