Actually Happen Here
The East End calendar has a shape to it. June and early July bring housewarmings and season openers. August is milestone birthdays, anniversary dinners and the parties people plan around a weekend when everyone is finally in the same place. September quietens into smaller, better dinners once the crowds thin.
Most of it is private. Estate parties for thirty to eighty guests, cocktail reception into dinner, often outdoors, frequently with no obvious moment where the room stops and watches. There are corporate weekends too, usually leadership retreats or client entertaining built around a house rather than a ballroom.
Almost none of it suits a traditional stage show, which is why Daniel’s close-up and strolling work is what gets booked out here. Sleight of hand and mind reading happen in small clusters, at arm’s length, while people are holding drinks. The performance moves to the guests instead of asking eighty people on a lawn to sit down and face one direction.
The exception is a seated dinner with a natural pause between courses. When that exists, a short mentalism set in the middle of the evening lands hard, because the room is already together and already listening.

Hamptons hosts tend to want the evening to feel effortless rather than programmed. Entertainment that announces itself, asks for a microphone, or interrupts the flow of a party reads as the wrong note in a house where the point is that nothing looks like it took effort.
So the work is quiet. Daniel moves through the party the way a guest would, stops with a group for a few minutes, does something they cannot explain, and moves on. Guests find him rather than being gathered for him. By the end of the night the same three stories are going around the room, which is the effect the host was paying for.

How far in advance should I book a magician in the Hamptons?
Summer weekends on the East End book earliest, particularly late June through August when everyone is out at once. If your date falls on a Saturday in that window, contact us as early as you can. Off-season and midweek dates are usually available at shorter notice.
Does this work at a private estate with no stage?
Yes, and that is most of what Daniel does out here. East End parties are typically outdoors, standing, and spread across a lawn or terrace with no natural moment where everyone sits. Close-up magic and mentalism suit that exactly, because the performance travels to the guests instead of asking the guests to assemble.
Do you need a stage, a microphone or any setup?
Not for close-up and strolling. That format needs nothing at all: no stage, no sound system, no lighting change and no adjustment to your run of show. Daniel moves through the room while guests are standing and talking. The stand-up mentalism show does need two things, a moment where the room genuinely gathers and a clear focal point for people to face. If your event has neither, close-up on its own is the better booking and Daniel will say so.
How many guests does this work for?
Close-up and strolling works from around ten guests to several hundred, because Daniel performs to small clusters at a time rather than the whole room at once. Roughly one hour covers about forty to fifty guests properly. The stand-up mentalism show suits a seated audience of around twenty upward, and has been performed for rooms of several hundred.
What is the difference between the close-up work and the show?
The close-up work is sleight of hand and mind reading performed at arm’s length, in guests’ own hands, in small groups. The show is a mentalism-driven set where the whole room watches together, built around thoughts, choices and information nobody has said out loud. Many events book both: close-up during the cocktail hour, then the show once everyone is seated.
